Nelson Rivera

Teacher, saxophonist, percussionist, and DJ, Nelson Rivera was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and has been a steady member of the Buffalo music scene for more than 15 years. Nelson has performed at numerous venues around the Western New York area, in a multitude of musical settings from jazz to pop to salsa. Of note, he has performed with the Buffalo Jazz Composers Workshop, Buffalo Jazz Octet, Wendell Rivera’s Latin Jazz Ensemble, Sol y Sombra, The Pete Ciraolo All-Star Big Band. He has also formed several of his own bands. Nelson is now a first grade teacher in the Buffalo Public Schools district. He is excited to join the Western New York Big Band as percussionist.
